This summer I picked up a few “mom” tricks from some savvy mommies. They have had a mini revolution on my life. Here are the top 4 mom tricks I learned this summer:
- Cut pizza with kitchen scissors! For years I have been trying to cut up my kids’ pizza with a fork and knife only to be left with a big mushy mess. Use kitchen scissors and you can cut up the pizza in half the time and it’s way less messy.
- Carry your green juice & your coffee in your work bag by putting an insulated double wine bottle carrier in it. No spills and hands-free! This trick solves many of the morning problems of juggling breakfast, coffee, and carrying your kids’ stuff. This one is available at aliexpress.com for $10.
- Post meal clean up in under two minutes – yes, this is achievable with Bounty’s new Paper Towels that have Dawn soap. I know I sound like a 1950s housewife, but these are little miracle wipes and have saved me MUCH time.
- Free Printable Sticker / Chore Chart by Leah Remillet Photography Blog. Last year I attempted to do the sticker reward chart the old fashioned way by tearing off some freezer paper, taking out the markers and making a chart for each child. Each time I attempted this endeavour I was successful only one week…there were no consecutive weeks and so there was no consecutive good behavior. After a recent public tantrum by my lovely Pumpkin Pie, I knew I had to go back to the sticker chart, but I was on a mission to find a very simple, printable chart that I could easily do week after week. This chart by Leah Remillet has been a godsend for the past 4 consecutive weeks (wahoo an Amore Family record!) and the good behavior and consequences are starting to pay dividends to J and I.
