Sometimes all it takes is a little Mason jar to brighten your day. Think of it…a mason jar of flowers, honey, homemade jam, brownie mix, a candle. The best mason jar I have received was fittingly a Mason jar of much needed everyday wine.

Deplaned from a six hour cross country flight, luggage in tow, two toddlers within reach, and (all on the heels of having moved states just two days before) I descended upon my dear friend with a hug and a long sigh. As we walked through San Diego airport to her car the highlight of the flight bounced through my head: changing my 18 month old son on the airplane seat all while my three year-old was jumping up and down and the kind lady next to me was offering to let my kids lie in her lap all this while being glared at by a handful of crotchety older men (understandably so) or was it the last hour and a half of the ride that the kids screamed and the men stared (again I would stare, too)? In her pure fashion she quickly started making the bad and funny images of the plane ride vanish. By the time we had reached her car, I was already feeling better and so happy to be with a dear friend who cares about me and I her. Two toddlers hitched into their car seats, luggage in the trunk, we reversed and as we headed towards her home she said, “this is for you…I thought you would need it after the flight.” She handed me a mason jar of cabernet and my mind went “awwww” and my heart went…someone cares. Little Mason jars have superpowers.
