I love wine and take wine industry education classes at the International Wine Center in Manhattan. Most recently I completed the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 3 Advance Certificate in January 2016. Before becoming a mother I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Business Administration and a BA in French. I then lived abroad in Paris and French-speaking Switzerland for 5 years where my affinity for wine expanded and I was lucky to intern at O-Chateau Wine Tasting while living in Paris and completing my graduate studies at Columbia University (MA in French Cultural Studies with Honors).
I am – a perpetual student, advocate, and plain out lover of happiness that comes from wine. As a stay-at-home-mom to two preschoolers, I aspire to have a life(style) that is well balanced, and I get that balance through exploring the world of viniculture on my off hours. The wine world is a big puzzle and is sometimes overwhelming. I’d like to break it down a bit and make it less intimidating and more fun. Mommelier is both educational and inspirational. My goal is to enhance your understanding of wine not so you can sound “smart,” but so you can enjoy the pleasure of drinking wine and sharing in a good bottle or trip with friends and family.

I first fell in love with wine when I moved to NYC after college. I remember being a first year Analyst going to happy hour at the local bar with colleagues. For the first time, I started thinking about different types of wines and asking myself if I liked them. After many happy hour laughs, my days of wine were truly uncorked when I moved abroad to Paris. There I learned the nuances of when the French drink, which types of wines they choose for a particular occasion / meal and the daily pleasure a swirl and a sip could bring.
I was fortunate enough to befriend a wine enthusiast who owns his own wine tasting company and wine bar in Paris. I spent a few months watching his wine tasting classes. Here I learned about French wine regions, varietals, special vintages and methods of tasting. I was enthralled and my days of exploring wine began!
Since then I have moved several more times, gone on multiple wine vacations in numerous countries, and had two beautiful children. That glass of wine at the end of a crazed day spent running after my two preschoolers is a glass full of relaxation that I am sure many of you can relate to. Now that my children are in preschool, I have a little time to myself to explore my sincere interest in wine and take it to a deeper level. I am happy to share my enthusiasm with my readers. Swirl, sip, sigh.
