Guten tag! Oktoberfest is simply cool. Who can’t have a good time wearing a pretty dirndl, hair done up fairy book style, sporting a pint of local beer, and getting your dance and possibly your flirt on? Here are 8 things that make Oktoberfest so cool! Hurry up and join in on the fall festival fun…Oktoberfest officially ends October 3rd. Celebrate with some friends at home or check out the real deal in Munich.Oktoberfest

  1. Bring out your lederhosen and dirndls, but don’t say you are wearing a costume! Yes, people do wear these and the outfits make it more fun, but locals take their attire seriously and it is no costume matter to them. Oktoberfest Shirins FB6
  2. Single? Unsure? Married? Ladies those Germans are smart! They have created a simple system for you to get your flirt on or not…simply tie your bow.
    • Looking to flirt? Tie your bow on the LEFT…after all life is all about making “friends”
    • Not so sure of your status? Tie that bow in the MIDDLE and let the guys figure out what to do.
    • Married or in a committed relationship? Well than make sure that bow is tied on the RIGHT.
  3. Braid that beautiful hair! Checkout My Oktoberfest Pinterest Board for inspiration on braids, dresses, food, and everything Oktoberfest.
  4. Wiesn is the local term used for the fest (festival), which is where the fairgrounds are.  The grounds are called Wiesn and die Wiese in German translates to meadow, grassland, field or lawn. On the Wiesn is a themepark that is sprawled out so you can play games, take rides, or eat candy and desserts.Oktoberfest Shirins FB2
  5. The 6 Munich breweries have the best tents in the Wiesn and out of those try Hacker Pschorr, Hofbräu or LowenbrauOktoberfest Shirins FB4
  6. Hungry with all that drinking? Large boards of food hold a bunch of different delectable items like thinly sliced radish, potato salad, pretzels (Brezn), bread with spreads, and meats. Believe it or not…the grilled chicken (wiesn hendl), not sausage, is the most traditional food.
  7. Dance your day away but not in the aisles! Dance at your table, but dancing in the aisles is a no-no. You will most likely being dancing to Robbie Williams’s “Angels.”
  8. Take away a Lebkuchenherzen (Lebkuchen hearts) as a memory of your fun. They are not really meant to be eaten though in theory you could. They are souvenirs and come with different phrases written on them and in different sizes.

Ich liebe dich Oktoberfest! Swirl, sip, sigh…hmmm…maybe more like Prost! #Oktoberfest #Wiesn #BottomsUp
